Maizie Mutsuko Higa's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maizie Mutsuko Higa, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on November 28th, 2024, at the age of 88.
She is survived by her children, Kurt (Cheryl) Higa, Grant (Christy) Higa, and Lynn Koyamatsu (Tony); grandchildren Benjamin (Kendra), Thad, Jade, Janelle Higa, Nolan, Corey, and Sean Koyamatsu; and great-grandchildren Ellias, Nora, and Judah Higa.
Maizie grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii in Kohala. Born to Rose and Kama Oshiro, she was the seventh of ten children: Fujie, Carol, Kate, Tom, Gerry, Edna, Jeanette, Betty and Diana. She moved to Oahu to attend business school after graduating from Kohala High School in 1954. Later, she married Richard Higa in 1958 and raised her three children.
Her family is grateful for Maizie's everlasting love and will always cherish her as a joyful and kind spirit.
The family will be honoring Maizie’s life in a private ceremony. Her ashes will be laid to rest with Richard’s on January 22nd.
