Manuel Kuuipo Baptista's Obituary
Manuel Kuuipo Baptista, a resident of Waipahu, Oahu passed away on October 16, 2016 at the Straub Clinic and Hospital he was 88 years old. Manuel was the oldest of five children born to Gertrude Kapule Pukai and Peter Baptista in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii on July 6, 1928. Manuel also had two half-brothers and half-sisters.
Manuel attended Aiea School, Waipahu High School, and Kamehameha School for boys (class of 1947). Upon graduation from high school he attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree.
After college Manuel enlisted in the United States Air Force where he attained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant where after 20 years of dedicated service he retired. After retirement he began a new venture with the FAA where he worked for another 18 years.
Manuel was married to Adeline Beautice Kuulei Andrews on December 23, 1949 in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Manuel was a retired computer analyst and programmer for the Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Agency. He was also a retired Senior Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his sons, Clifford (Bonny) Baptista, Stanley (Cathleen) Baptista, Steven (Ronicca) Baptista and David (Lisa) Baptista; sister, Gertrude Kaimuloa.
Service for Manuel will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.; service to begin at 9:30 a.m. burial to follow 11:00 a.m. at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter.
