Manuela Bumanglag Santos' Obituary
Manuela Bumanglag Santos, a retired seamstress for Surfline Hawaii, passed away March 11, 2017 in Kaneohe at the age of 87. The youngest of two children, Manuela was born November 23, 1929 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to parents Florentino Bumanglag and Lorenza Santos Bumanglag. She attended Buttong Elementary School and the Holy Ghost Academy in the Philippines. She married Elpidio Santos, and together they had twelve children. A devout Catholic, Manuela was a parishioner at the Co-Cathedral of Saint Theresa in Honolulu, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society. A caring and very hardworking woman, she was also a talented seamstress, and, after moving to Hawaii with her family, worked for Surfline Hawaii. Her family remembers all the special pillowcases she sewed and gave to all her children. Manuela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elpidio Santos, and beloved son, Fely Santos. She will be missed and forever loved.
She is survived by eleven children, Evelyn (Oscar) Legaspi, Nelie (Dionicio) Bagaoisan, Aurelia (Alejandrino) Duldulao, Oscar (Crispina) Santos, Miguel (Tessie) Santos, Clarito Santos, Efren Santos, Ruben (Bella) Santos, Loida Santos, Grace Santos and Dennis Santos; 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Evening wake services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
A second service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Co-Cathedral of Saint Theresa. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park at 12:00 p.m.
