Marcela Bartolome Gali's Obituary
Marcela Bartolome Gali was born in Laoag City, Philippines on January 31, 1936. Her parents are the late Simeon Aguinaldo Bartolome and Petra de los Santos Bartolome. She is the oldest among four children. She has two brothers, Filemon and Ricarte and one sister Virginia as the youngest.
She went to Zamboanga Elementary School and to Ilocos Norte National High School. Because of financial difficulties, she took a vocational course in Tailoring and Dressmaking at her Auntie's School, the Santos Fashion School in Laoag City. There she met her late husband, Marceliano Peralta Gali from Dingras, Ilocos Norte. They were blessed with 6 children, four boys Elson, Loreto, Renato, and Marceliano Jr. and two girls, Marieta and Crisanta. She became a widow in 2005.
She immigrated to Hawaii in 1991 together with her late husband. She worked at Beniya Shokudo as a food prep until the company closed down in 1998. She worked part time at other food places but because of the recession around that time, it was hard to find a full time job so she helped take care of her grandchildren and babysit her youngest two grandchildren, and great grandchild until her health started to deteriorate. She just celebrated her 84th birthday with family, relatives and friends. She passed away on February 21, 2020 at Pali Momi Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Elson Gali, Loreto Gali, Marieta Lamug,Renato Gali, Crisanta Gali and Marceliano Gali Jr. Marcela has 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Wake Services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary Chapel at Valley of the Temples. Visitation will start at 5:30 p.m.; prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Additional Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at St. Joseph Church Waipahu at 11:00 a.m.; Mass at 12:00 p.m. and Burial at 2:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held from 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Chapel Lanai.
