Margaret Tomie Mita's Obituary
Celebrating the Lively Journey of Margaret Tomie Mita
November 16th, 1929 – March 23rd, 2026
We celebrate the beautiful life of Margaret Tomie Mita, a woman remembered for her love of movement and her bright spirit. Honest, intelligent, compassionate, kind, and supportive, she filled each day with purpose and joy. Born in Honolulu on November 16th 1929, Margaret grew up under island skies that matched her energy. Outdoor activities called to her, and she later found delight in country line dancing, spirited games of mahjong, and casual walks around Ala Moana with her grandkids. Margaret’s sharp mind and steady character led her to a new role as an office manager for wholesale companies. Even as the years passed, she welcomed fresh challenges, showing family and friends that learning and working can bloom at any age.
Family meant everything to Margaret. She shared deep bonds with her daughter Susan Akamine, and with her sons Randal Mita and Ronald Mita. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild added extra joy, especially during their walks together by the water.
Loved ones will also remember her for turning ordinary moments—like a simple stroll—into lasting memories. Her active days, warm guidance, and steady support shaped the lives around her in quiet but powerful ways. Margaret’s story closes where it began, in Honolulu, yet her influence continues in every dance step, card game, and shoreline walk her family enjoys. We honor her lively spirit and promise to keep moving forward with the same steady love she shared so freely.
