Margaret Antonia Young's Obituary
Margaret Antonia Young, 86, of Waimanalo, passed away March 7, 2016 in Honolulu. She was born April 27, 1929 in Puunene, Maui to parents Erinio Manalo and Christina Leona Ebanez Manalo. She attended Puunene Elementary and later earned her General Educational Development (GED) degree. After graduation, she began a career as a clerk/cashier at Safeway Kaneohe and retired after many years or service. On April 20, 1946, she married James S.K. Young, and they lived in Waimanalo, raising five children. Loved by all her family, Margaret was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very active in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) organization, and loved to play the ukulele, sing and dance hula with her senior club.
Margaret is survived by her husband, James S.K. Young; son, Derrick (Jane) Young, Buddy “Sonny Boy” James Young; daughters, Annette (Pat) Young-Ogata, Charleen (Kai) McKeague and Jaime (Ondre) Tuisano; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert P. (Sandy) Manalo, Tony (Rose) Lasit; sister, Myrna McPheeters.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; a prayer service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Committal service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
