She worked for several years as a preschool teacher and then as a substitute teacher for the DOE—jobs she loved for the joy and privilege of working with children.
In her seventies, she participated in a faith-based power lifting group and even won some competitions! She was a member of the Kailua Baptist Church until leaving to participate in the founding of the First Baptist Church of Waimanalo where she remained a member until she joined the Church Triumphant on July 4, 2016. She loved her God, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her church and her friends and was devoted to all of them.
