Maria Rosa Dumas' Obituary
Maria Dumas was born on the island of Rotuma in the south Pacific on December 5, 1957. She grew up in Rotuma and Suva, Fiji. Maria pursued further education at Nebraska Indian Community College, Chaminade University, and the University of Hawaii where she received a master’s degree in Multicultural Education. Maria served as an educator in Nebraska, American Samoa, and Hawaii. She is remembered as a “ray of sunshine”, dedicated to helping her colleagues and working tirelessly with students and their families to ensure that students were prepared for success in school and beyond.
She was also a very active parishioner at St. George Catholic Church in Waimanalo.
Maria is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Marieta and Nicole, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Her Celebration of Life will be at St. George Church at 10:00 AM on December 4, 2025 and burial will follow at the Valley of the Temples at 3:00 PM.
