Marilyn Lydia Abejon's Obituary
Marilyn Lydia (Dikilato) Abejon was born on September 4, 1953 and went on to join other family and loved ones on November 7, 2020.
She attended Sacred Hearts Convent, Kaewai Elementary, Kalakaua Intermediate and graduated from Farrington High School. After high school she enrolled in United States Air Force in 1972 as a Personnel Specialist. She also continued her education at Kapiolani Community College, Honolulu Community College and Windward Community College.
In her younger days from 1966 – 1969, Marilyn was part of the Filapiniana Dance Company where she would dance various Filipino dances and even be seen on TV every Sunday morning.
Marilyn worked various jobs throughout her life. Among them were Diner’s Drive Inn, Holiday Mart, City and County Road Division, Zippy’s Restaurant, Safeway Stores, Kaneohe Commissary and Marine Base Environmental Dept. The most rewarding occupation by far was wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Marilyn was multi-talented. She was an excellent cook and made favorite dishes for each member of the family. She could sew and when we were in high school made matching outfits for us. Throughout the years, Marilyn was also interested in doing various hobbies and crafts. Her most favorite hobby was doing Legos and Nanoblocks. There was never a Lego or Nanoblock that she could not conquer. The bigger the better and it all involved thousands of pieces. She also enjoyed doing various puzzles.
One of Marilyn’s endearing traits was that she was a perfectionist and did everything well. She was good at organizing and arranging things so that it fit perfectly. As her husband, I remember having to travel a lot and she would always pack my bags for every trip. I don’t know how she did it but I could never put everything back when I was ready to pack everything up again.
Another one of Marilyn’s traits was her generosity and kind heart. She was always thinking of others whether it is family or friends.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she would watch all the Christmas movies on Hallmark and Lifetime many times over. Before she left, she had asked the grandkids to set up the Christmas tree which she was able to see and this made her very happy.
