Marino Baldemor Regalado's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Marino Baldemor Regalado, 97, of Honolulu, passed away on October 30, 2014. He was born in San Juan, Abra, Philippines and immigrated to Hawaii in the 40’s to find a better life, after living through several epic adventures in his native Philippines. Upon arriving in Hawaii, Marino spent one day in Lana`i island working as a pineapple plantation worker before deciding that Hawaii was more than just a pineapple field and opted to try his luck on Oahu. He retired as a Stevedore with McCabe, Hamilton and Renny Co. Ltd., also known as the Hawaii Stevedores.
During retirement, Marino traded in his cross-pacific life of adventure for a blissfully calm pace of life, consisting mostly of morning coffee, walks, The Price is Right, KHON evening news, Jeopardy!, the Wheel of Fortune, adobo dinners, and spending time with family. His post-retirement hobbies also included tinkering with and fixing things that were broken, as well as lecturing his two sons and late wife on every aspect of life and offering advice, whether or not it was warranted. In the end, all his stories and advice were appreciated, regardless of the level of appropriateness.
Although he was mostly regarded as a strict, serious man, there were moments in time where one would catch him as a loving husband or a caring father who would give the world for his family.
Marino is survived by his two sons, Marino M. and Clarence (Sayaka) Regalado.
He is preceded in death by his wife Clarita, whom he loved more than game shows and local news.
