Martha Lukai Toeta's Obituary
Martha Lukai Toeta, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his residence in Wahiawa, Hawaii. She was 76 years old. She was the eldest of 12 children born to John Vail Kerr and Hattie Kahananui Kaanaana on October 24, 1939 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a retired registered nurse with Leeward Nursing Home in Makaha.
She attended St. Joseph Elementary and Intermediate School then went on to attend St. Francis High School. After high school she furthered her education and received her nursing degree.
She began her career as a trimmer with Dole Pineapple Cannery and later pursued her life career as a registered nurse and was employed with Leeward Nursing Home in Makaha. After serving 25 years she retired in 1994.
She lived in various places on Oahu such as; Honolulu, Nanakuli, Waianae, and Wahiawa.
Her first marriage was to Roy Hoomanawanui Ua Sr. on February 2, 1957 in Honolulu; her second marriage was to Cyril Galinato Flores Sr. on March 25, 1968 in Honolulu and her third marriage was to Solomona Toeta on October 21, 1995 in Honolulu. Through the love and marriage with all her spouses she was blessed with all her children.
She was a member of both Hale O Na Ali'i and the 'Ahahui Ka'ahumanu also known as the Ka‘ahumanu Society.
Her favorite music to listen to were church songs and hymns
She is survived by her sons, Roy (Vine) Hoomanawanui Ua Jr. and Cyril (Janice) Galinato Flores Jr.; daughters, Evalina (Jesus) Kanohoinea Pina, Martha Kehaulani Kaio and Patricia Nellie Ragragola; brothers, Walter K. Goo Sun, Herman Kaanaana, and Oliver Kamali; sisters, Priscilla Calvo and Carol Kaleiwahea; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Toeta will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. with service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Martha will be remembered for her kind, gentle, friendly, and thoughtful spirit that she carried with her. She will also be remembered as being well mannered as well.
