Maude Frances Wahinekailikumuhonua Hanohano Nakila, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Waimanalo, Oahu. She was born to parents Peter Solomon Hanohano and Stella Irene Piianaia Hanohano on December 22, 1923 in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a retired educational aide for the Department of Education, serving at Blanche Pope Elementary, Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate, and Kailua High Schools.
She is survived by son, Joel (Althea) Nakila; daughters, Leitha "Momi" Nakila, Stella "Kookie" Akina, Deidra "Dee" (Matt) Seto and Lavene "Venee" (Roy) Zitzelsberger; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Phillip (Dannette) Hanohano, Billy (Kama) Hanohano, Hank Hanohano, Edgar (Hisako) Hanohano, Edwin (Aloha) Hanohano; sisters, Esther (Bill) Lum and Stella (Bully) Judd; sister-sin-law, Edith Hanohano, Lillian Hanohano and Nancy Hanohano.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2016, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the Waimanalo Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome.
