Melchor Ganir Hermano was born on January 6, 1918 in Bario 4, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He arrived in Hawaii on February 7, 1976 to join his family. He worked as a Janitorial/Maintenance with Pacific Laundry and retired at the age of 94.
