Mert Damaso Garma's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our father, Mert Damaso Garma, who left us on April 21, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Laoag City, Philippines, on May 11, 1938, the eldest of five siblings. He was preceded in death by parents, Sotero Garma and Anastacia Damaso Garma, and one younger sister, Gloria Garma Fiesta.
Mert was a retired Hawaiian Vanier Graphics Corporation graphic artist who dedicated his life to his family. He was known for his humor, storytelling, wisdom, cooking, and immense love for fishing. Mert touched the lives of many with his kindness, compassion, and friendliness.
Mert is survived by his loving wife Leonida, children Merle (Denny) Mendoza, Zeus (Liana) Garma, Athena (Wayne) Diamond, and eight grandchildren. Together, they will forever remember, cherish, and miss the man who was the heart of their family.
Mert's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Waipahu. Burial will follow at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park at 2:00 PM.
