Mike and I met when he was an outreach counselor for Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate and I was the native Hawaiian counselor for Windward Community College. Combining our love of sports with increasing native enrollment in higher education and service to windward communities, we created the WCC Inter-collegiate volleyball tournament. This event brought together student and faculty teams from all 4 Oahu community colleges for intense competition, engaging conversation and delicious pot-luck meals for the next 22 years! Couldn't have done it without Mike, the Kaimuki bulldog!
