Michael Anthony Keaunui's Obituary
Michael A. Keaunui 60, Honolulu, HI, passed Tues. Oct 8, 2019. Born July 14, 1959 in Honolulu. Alumnus of Damien Memorial High School, class of 1977. Dedicated 41 years on the waterfront as a longshoreman with McCabe, Hamilton, and Renny.
In his spare time, he often tinkered with everyday items, perfecting them with his creative spin. We liked to call them his “projects”. Michael enjoyed word puzzles, gardening, learning about history, the world, and practical knowledge through learning channels and books. He was known for his big-hearted generosity.
Sadly, his partner, Shawmene Kehau Kalama, may she rest in peace, passed soon after Michael’s death. He will be remembered by his mother and father, Catalina and Andrew; his daughter Summer (Jared), of Salt Lake City, UT; former wife Wendy; brothers Andrew Jr (Lorna) and Alex (Yuri); sister Rosemary (Paul) of Battle Ground, WA; the McCabe ‘Ohana; and his two dogs Oli(ver) and Ulu.
Funeral gathering will be held at St. George Catholic Church, Waimanalo, HI (41-1323 Kalanianaʻole Hwy), Fri. Jan 17, 2020 at 10am, service at 11am. Ashes to be spread the following day, Sat. Jan 18, 2020, at Honolulu Harbor, 2pm.
