Michael Edward Lyons' Obituary
Michael Edward Lyons, age 88, passed away on September 29, 2023 with his loving family by his side.
He was born on April 9, 1935 to Freckles and Virginia in Hollywood, California where his father was a studio musician.
His family soon returned to Honolulu where “Mickey” began attending Saint Louis School in the first grade and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1955. There he made numerous lifelong friends. He was a proud Crusader and truly bled red and blue.
He joined the Army National Guard while still in high school. He retired as Sergeant First Class after 27 years. He loved telling stories of his achievements, friendships and escapades.
He married Eleanor Akiyama in 1962 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
A true people person, he was a member of numerous committees and organizations throughout his lifetime. He spent many happy hours officially timing football games and serving on Saint Louis Alumni committees. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, BPOE Lodge #616. After retirement, he became an active member of the Odd Fellows, IOOF Lodges Excelsior #1 and Harmony #3 where he was Noble Grand on two occasions and the Foresters, AOF Court Camoes No 8110. He immensely enjoyed the comradeship he encountered.
Mike’s love of people led him to a 30 year career in sales beginning at Hawaiian Printing. Many of his colleagues and customers became his friends for life.
He loved socializing, friends, a good laugh, Hawaiian music, good food, cocktails, cribbage, football, and especially his family.
He was a man of faith and enjoyed his time as an usher at Holy Trinity Church. He truly had Christ in his heart. As wonderful as his life was, he was not troubled by death since he knew he was going to an even better place.
