Message to Micheal- the longest conversation I've ever had with you was at our 55th reunion class night...and yes, you did most of the talking. what I remember about our conversation was that you had not been well and yet you were still here. The question you asked me was "why am I still here?" I asked you the same question "do you know why you are still here?" to which you said "no".
All I know is that we all have a specific time that we are given on earth and when that time is up, we return to our heavenly home. For you, you just needed to wait for 8 months after our conversation. You're definitely in good company with fellow classmates Franklin, Carla, Lucy, Kaipo to name a few.

Aloha Mike- I don’t have one memory- but choked memories- school was just lots more fun with Mike. Hanging out and joking between classes- all the ROTC stuff-morning inspections- parades-having one sip of beer before dances. It was just having fun hanging out with a Friend. I loved Michael’s extensive knowledge of, taste in, Hawaiian music. He was an expert on Hawaiian trees and plants, and very helpful and generous with his expertise. Michael was very friendly, fun to talk to, interesting and kind. I’m so glad I got to know him.

My fondest memories with Michael is when I walked into his home one day and saw he bought a new lamp. The lamp looked like an industrial metal angler fish with the light being the little dangly thing on the fishes head. He was so happy about that lamp and it caught me off guard. I always enjoyed his eclectic style and taste. I also cherish the endless conversations about surfing we had every week. Rest is peace and love unko!

Michael, as our neighbor, loved talking story and sharing gardening tips. He didn’t evacuate during the most recent tsunami warning, and seemed happy when we were the first ones back. We’ll plant a flowering shrub in his memory.

It was registration day at Arizona State University. I didn’t know Mike from Adam. But he was such a cute boy, obviously Hawaiian, in his slippers, shorts and aloha shirt. He stood out! Little did I know that within months, the boy who stood out from the others in line, would be dating one of my good friends, marry her and father two lovely daughters.
