I remembered the Waimanalo beach house so well as a young girl and later as an adult with 3 daughters ! My earliest impressions of Aunty Hungie were of a gifted spiritual dynamo who with her beautifully freckled face Would smile and give you a snug bear hug and kiss ! Her house was the Mecca fir family gatherings once a year with Long tables seated with a myriad of smiling faces chowing down platefuls of tasty kaukau( food) at our family potlucks ! Her bulletin boards outside and inside were covered with cards and pictures of her children and her extended family and Friends. They became a wonderful walk back in time !
She volunteered at Castle Medical Center in kailua where my 2 nd daughter Stephanie also volunteered and always commented how generous Aunty was with snacks and a vivacious smile for everyone !
I only wish I could have spent more time with Aunty but the legacy she left behind for her children
And us - to follow Jesus - love as He Loved !
I look forward to being reunited with my lovely energetic Aunty Hungie in Heaven someday and catch up on all the time we were separated !
I know her children and family will carry her torch to bless
The world with her love ! Bye bye for a short while till we see you again with Jesus at the Great Resurrection!
