Our family was saddened by the passing of Mrs. Mildred Hirashiki.
She welcomed us into her Nuuanu neighborhood 14 years ago with
open arms. It was not unusual for us to see her working in her
beloved yard from early in the morning till late in the afternoon! She
gave my young sons flowers from her garden to give to their
preschool teachers and was always willing to give us a hand. I
remember her offering to babysit my newborn son if I needed help.
She was 89 years old at the time!
We will always remember her warm smile, grace, strength and witty
personality.
