Neil was my best friend in 4th and 5th grade. His birthday popped up on my calendar today from an old email account. Happy Birthday brother.
For all of Neils family,
My thoughts and prayers to all of you. I had the great pleasure of getting to know Neil for about 8 months while he was working with me on the big island; we shared an apartment together. During that time he became more like my own family to me than just a friend.
Martin, Unhee, you raised an amazing son that I'm sure you were both proud of. He was mature beyond his years, but still had enough kid left in him to be one of the funnest people I have known in my life. His sense of humor never ceased to get the whole team laughing, yet at the same time he was always reliable and hard working.
My heart goes out to all of you. I know my own grief over this must pale in comparison to all of yours, but so you know the kind of impact he had on people's lives, know that the day I learned of his death that my own world got a little more grey. I pray for your strength during this season of pain in your lives. Know that he will always be remembered by many whose lives he touched, and those memories cherished the rest of our days. I wish I could have been there to help send him off with you, and am sorry that I could not.
Best Regards
Clay

Neil and Kevin, was on the Keloa o Ka Kai, canoe club for Radford, My neice Jeanne paddled and was their classmate. I remember escorting them with their coach to Tahiti. Neail was very respectable, funny kid, a little naughty but it was all good. I remeber how the boys would do crazy things to the girls, like steal their underwear and display it, or draw on them while they sleep. I enjoyed my time with Neil and his team. I met Neil again, when me and my neice was having lunch. The fact that he came up to us and recognized me, I was so greatful and happy. He still looked as handsome as he did in high school. It's a very sad thing that happened to such wonderful men. Our heartfelt smpathy goes out to the families. May their be peace to all of this. Neil and his best friend Kevin will be missed.they have left many
everlasting memories in our hearts. Love you guys.

I am having a hard time just writing this. It still feels like a dream.
When I think of you and the memories I had of you, they are all fond
memories. Every single moment you had a big smile on your face. It
didn't seem like you had any other worry in the world. You were one
of the sweetest guys I met. Thank you for being a friend to me when I
was new to Aliamanu. It wasn't the easiest to be the new girl in middle
school, but you made sure I be introduced to some of your friends,
including Robby. We were just laughing about it yesterday because
you had to introduce us although we were neighbors the whole time.
That just shows how much you cared, even though you knew nothing
really about me at the time. Neil, I was just watching our middle
school graduation video just a week before you passed. I really wish
we hung out more in high school. I am really going to miss you Neil.
You were a great guy and friend. Please watch over your family and
friends. We need you the most right now.

Neil-- I pray your family feels you close to them every single day. I know nothing we can do or say can fill the giant void losing you has torn into our hearts. But you were amazing and wonderful person, so there is so much missing with you gone. I can only pray they find comfort in your memories-- and I feel blessed that we got the years we did with you. In your short years here on earth you made it sooo much brighter. I am so blessed to have known you, so heartbroken to have you gone. I can't remember the last thing I said to you and that breaks my heart, but I remember hugging you goodbye... I just wish it was not for the last time... I would have hugged you so much tighter.
