Aunty Noreen and Uncle Harvey were my “go to’s” as a teenager. You see, I was the daughter of Noreen’s sister, Ipolani Vaiolini Hiram Thompson and lived in San Francisco. I would leave on any given day and come to Oahu, call my Aunty Noreen and Uncle Harvey’s house on a pay phone asking if I could be picked up from the Honolulu Airport. I would ALWAYS be welcomed and picked up, then spend my first night in Waimanalo on Inoaole Street with my cousins and Aunty & Uncle. Then would come the dreaded call to my parents to let them know I wouldn’t be home for dinner because I was in Hawaii. After couple times my parents was use to the call and by that time suggested I stay, lol. My fondest of memories are with Aunty Noreen & Uncle Harvey’s unconditional love! True aloha I learned from them. I will miss my dear Aunty. It doesn’t surprise me that she joined Uncle Harvey just 10 months after his return home. True examples of LOVE & ALOHA! A Hui Hou & Until we meet again!
