Oliver "Ollie" Hannibal Bettencourt, Jr.'s Obituary
Oliver “Ollie” Hannibal Bettencourt, Jr., 69, of Kailua, Oahu passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was the oldest of four children born to Oliver Hannibal Bettencourt Sr. and Genevieve Elizabeth Andrade in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 9, 1946. He was a United States Navy Veteran that served in the Vietnam War.
He attended the following schools; Cathedral Catholic Academy, Kailua High School, University of Hawaii at Manoa and Chaminade University. He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree with a focus in Business Administration and Economics.
He enlisted in the United States Navy on October 12, 1966 and was honorably discharged on January 2, 1976. While in the military he received the following honors; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) and First and Second Good Conduct Awards for February 1, 1971 and February 1, 1975.
Ollie lived in Ka‘a‘aawa and Kailua.
He was married to Maude Jacqueline Konia Caires July 3, 1971 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kailua, Oahu.
Ollie’s favorite scriptures were, Philippians 4:8; Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
John 3:16; For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
His buddies and closest friends that he could turn to were: Mike Bedison and Ollie Brilhante.
The important events in Ollie’s life were the day he was married to his wife, Maude; the births of his children: Charmaine on July 16, 1975, Cammy-Lynne on October 21, 1977, Aaron on July 23, 1980 and Sarah on October 20, 1981.
He enjoyed golfing, watching Notre Dame Football, fishing, laying net and poke squid.
The music he liked listening to were, Big Band music; classics such as Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn and Nat King Cole; Hawaiian music were entertainers such as the Brothers Cazimero and the Makaha Sons.
He is survived by his wife, Maude Bettencourt; son, Aaron Bettencourt; daughters, Charmaine Vincent, Cammy-Lynne Akiona and Sarah Ferreira; brothers, Neil Bettencourt and Mark Bettencourt; sister, Wendy Dixon and eight grandchildren.

Ollie will always be remembered as a loving, caring, generous and kind hearted man. His presence will certainly be missed by both his family and friends.
