Saludes, Pacita C.'s Obituary
Pacita C. Saludes, aged 94, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024. Born on March 27, 1930, in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Pacita lived a life full of passion and adventure. She was married to Fred Saludes (deceased) and left a loving family, including her nine children: Lydia, Lina, Lerina, Lerma, Dan, Dino, Dennis, Laarni, Lyra, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother Oscar Cabulera, and sister Salud Gascon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pacita was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed writing, a testament to her creative spirit, and had a deep love for traveling, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures.
A two-day service will be held in her honor. The first day will be a memorial wake and celebration of life at Valley of the Temples Makai Chapel on December 20, with visitation starting at 4:00 PM, followed by a program at 5:00 P.M., and dinner/visitation at 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. The second day will include a church service at St. Philomena Catholic Church on December 21, with visitation starting at 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., a mass service at 11:00 A.M.,
a lunch at noon, and followed by a burial at Valley of the Temples at 2:00 PM.
Pacita's legacy of love for her family, community service, and as a leading advocate to preserve and cultivate the Ilokano language and culture in the Filipino community in Hawaii and elsewhere in the United States will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her voice was well-known to many as a retired radio and television host, where she touched countless lives with her words and stories. Writing was her greatest passion and she has published many poems, plays, short stories, and articles. She will be greatly remembered through the organizations she founded, GUMIL-HAWAII and ANNAK TI KAILOKUAN ITI AMERIKA, including her numerous involvement in the Filipino community. She will be deeply missed.
