Patrick Kuuiponohea Alama's Obituary
Patrick Kuuiponohea Alama, 77, of Pearl City, Hawaii passed away on May 24, 2017. Patrick was born on April 2, 1940 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Nancy Tsugiko (Nagamine) and Lawrence Ling Alama; he was the youngest of three children.
Patrick attended the following schools: Kaiulani Elementary School, Like Like Elementary School, Central Intermediate, and graduated from McKinley High School.
After graduation, he began his career as a delivery/sales person for Horimoto Fish Market; then as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, where he retired in Honolulu after serving 41 years of service.
He served in the United States Army from July 1958 to July 1961; he attained the rank of Private.
He married Jeanette Hisako Fukumitsu on July 28, 1963 at the Central Union Church; they both lived in Honolulu and Pearl City.
Patrick loved fishing, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and was a true fan of University of Hawaii sports.
Patrick’s nicknames were “Willy” and “Gobe.” His favorite motto that he lived by was, “Whatever your heart desires.”
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Alama; son, Reed Alama; daughter, Kelly (Leopoldo “Leo”) Quinabo; two granddaughters, Kelci Quinabo and Megan Quinabo; sister, Merren Hao; brothers, Edmund Hao and Vernon Hao.
Celebration of life service for Patrick will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m., with service to begin at 6:30 p.m.
