Pauline Yoshie Mori 's Obituary
Pauline Yoshie Mori, born February 2, 1918 in Honolulu, was the spirited daughter of Uhei and Kimi Tanaka. Being the only daughter among five brothers, she grew to be an assertive young woman who could stand up for herself.
She attended McKinley High School (that is, when she wasn't skipping classes to go on "excursions") and took great pride in the fact that she was a high school graduate. She was an active individual who enjoyed swimming and dancing.
At the age of 24 she married Sadao Mori. The couple had two children, Stephen and Paula. Because Pauline loved to swim, she made it a point to teach her children, as well as all the neighborhood children, how to swim. On weekends she would round up all the neighborhood kids and take them on the bus to Farrington Pool, which was the nearest pool at the time.
When her two grandchildren, Remy and Rylan, came along, she taught them how to swim, too. Pauline continued to be an avid swimmer until she was 89 years old, when a wrist fracture made it difficult for her to continue swimming.
Pauline traveled extensively and had many groups of friends, who enriched her life and kept her mentally and physically active.
Also, at the spry age of 89, she became a great grandmother to Rylynn Toyama, a little girl who brought lots of joy and laughter into Pauline’s later years.
Pauline was blessed to live a busy, happy, healthy life and enjoyed each day to the fullest. She passed peacefully in her sleep on May 24, 2013, at the age of 95.
