Petronio Domingo Baptista's Obituary
Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary and Valley of the Temples is saddened to announce the passing of Petronio Domingo Baptista. We are honored to be serving the Baptista family during this time.
Petronio (Pete) Baptista, 89, of Aiea, Hawaii, passed on to eternal life on May 21, 2023. He was born in Laoag City, Philippines, on October 4, 1933, to Arcadio and Agapita Baptista. He grew up with his three sisters, Isabel, Romana, and Lourdes.
Pete graduated from National University in Manila with a degree in Civil Engineering. He accepted a position with the Department of Public Works. When he was in route to a project, he met a beautiful young teacher, Angeles (Angie), who became his wife. They had three children, Nick, Nita, and Maria Lourdes. Pete accepted his first U.S. job in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he received approval for U.S. immigration as a professional engineer. He moved to Hawaii and got a job offer one day after arriving. His young family joined him in Hawaii in May 1969. After working with several private firms, he took a position with the City and County of Honolulu where he worked until retirement.
Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angie, his parents, his sister, Lourdes, and his brother, Pepito. Pete is survived by his son, Nick (Teresa); his daughters, Nita (Paul) and Maria Lourdes; his grandchildren: Jordan, Keenan, Brandan, Jaiman, Kristen, and Preston; his sisters, Isabel and Romana; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He and his many stories will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Church, 99-312 Moanalua Road, Aiea. Family visitation: 9:00 am; public visitation: 9:30 am; eulogy and Mass: 10:00 am; burial: 12:00 pm at the Valley of the Temple, 47-200 Kahekili Highway, Kaneohe
