Renfred Ho, 64, a resident of Pukalani, Maui, Hawaii passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born to Raymond and Esther (Jong) Ho in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 29, 1951 at the Queen’s Hospital. He was a service representative for a retail car sales in Maui and a National Guard Veteran.
Ren grew up attending Waialae Kahala Chapel as a child and in 1986 moved to help start a sister church on Maui, he later attended Waipuna Chapel, Grace Bible Church and King's Cathedral.
He graduated from Kalani High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1971.
In his teen years, he was in a band named "Loving Souls".
In his adult years, God brought together "God's Team", which consisted of members from different denominations to play at the Homeless Shelter, Weddings, Parties, etc. People saw Ren as quiet and shy, but when he played the guitar, he became a Rock Star for God.
Tinkering with cars started at a young age, and it was always his passion and raced his first car, a Chevelle, at the Hawaii Raceway Park in Campbell Industrial Park.
Ren had an opportunity to make good money and benefits as a carpenter, but after several years in the construction field, he went back to working on cars.
He enjoyed it and was very good at diagnosing problems. People recognized his gift and Ren was offered financing to open his own automotive shop, manage a service station on another island and was even asked to move to India, as cars now have to be diagnosed by a computer, but in India they still have a lot of the old cars that do not.
Ren also enjoyed tinkering with "his toys" from an electric scooter, to remote trucks, cars, tanks, etc. to dromes.
Ren started his career at the age of 18 he had an extensive employment background in different fields of the business industry such as; Kaimuki Texaco, Liberty House, Sears Ala Moana Automotive, Bay Chevrolet Kaneohe, Construction with the Carpenters Union, Pacific Oldsmobile Honolulu, Island Honda Maui, Budget Car Sales Maui, Cutter Maui, Aloha Airlines Maui, Enterprise and Maui Toyota.
He played the guitar for "Loving Souls" and "God's Team". He was an Assistant Scoutmaster for a Boy Scout Troop in Waipahu and assisted with several Church Youth Groups on Oahu and Maui.
On May 2, 1972, Ren married Dale Naomi Teranishi and they made a lifetime commitment to God, their marriage and children.
Besides his love for Jesus, his family and people, he loved music and cars. Ren was always there for his sons, from T-ball to baseball, Cub scouts to Boy Scouts and soccer.
When they got older, even though Ren did not surf, he drove Brendan early mornings, for dawn patrol, and after work so that Brendan could surf before the sun went down.
Travis and Ren would spend much time together working on cars together. Ren also enjoyed playing Nerf with his grandchildren and taking them to the park and church. He loved music and played the guitar, organ and ukulele, all self-taught.
He got his relaxation by going to the movies, eating mochi crunch in an air-conditioned surround-sound theatre.
Ren has travelled many times to California to visit family and friends, to Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Las Vegas, Mexico, Reno, Washington and Canada.
He is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
