Robert and I were first cousins. His mother and my mother, Beatrice Duarte, were sisters. Robert and I grew up in Kalaheo on the Island of Kauai until his family moved to Kailua. My brother, Robert, was an awesome man. Whenever we chatted on the phone he would always say "Hi, sweetheart" and when it was time to end the call he would ask me to "hang up the phone." Robert was a goodhearted person and loved his family very much. He was confident in his beliefs and never wavered. I will miss him very much.
