I am writing this in regards to Robert's friends on Hawaii and all over the globe. Robert spread his aloha not just in Hawaii, but all over the world as well. I apologize that we could not plan a funeral service. This website obituary and the newspaper obituary both were free. Unfortunately other personal problems arose causing us to speed up the process of getting Robert cremated and put to rest based on his last wishes which forced us to cancel a much wanted gathering of family and friends as well. I have seen many condolences from friends from all over the globe, I just want you to know that he remembered you and asked me to let all of his friends know he was thinking about you before he passed. Thank you everyone for your blessings and God Bless you and yours.
Robert was born on March 1st 1962, and lived out his childhood mostly in the Windward areas of Oahu.
Robert had 6 Children ~ (Darlene) Brandon, Robert Jr., Nalani, Christine, Cassandra, (Donna) Anthony. Robert told me several times that he was not the best Dad in the world, but lived and learned everyday and loved his kids more than anything in the world.
He joined US Army Reserve at around 1983 as a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1994.
Robert was a Culinary Arts professional, his food was always very tasty! Robert also studied electronics, computer science, astronomy, science fiction and I could go on and on with his other skills and hobbies. However one of his most noted accomplishments was his participation with the Can Sat Aerospace competition and HCC/WCC colleges. Robert was a CAN SAT Student Coordinator at the Windward and Honolulu Community Colleges. NASA sponsored program that involved launching a rocket with a satellite mimic that fit in a soda can. The rocket would transmit data back while parachuting back to the ground. Robert loved to make stuff out of electronic components ~ I believe this was his passion.
Robert loved God, his children, Reggae music, his friends both on the internet and the very close friends that he spent time with throughout his life here on the Hawaiian Islands and off the Islands. (he used the word "IRIE" to express his greeting, that he was feeling great, or "it was all good").
Robert loved the Hawaiian Islands even though Hawaii had great economical challenges ~ He said "I would not trade Hawaii for any place else". He especially loved Kahaluu he told me once "This is where my roots are, this is where I will live my life forever"
Robert inspired me with his intellect. he was not perfect, much as many of us we all have our faults in one way or another. His philosophy was "Tiny is the flower, yet it scents the grasses around it"
It doesn't how small you are, whether in size or numbers. It doesn't matter how much you know, or how skilled you are. It doesn't matter how much education or credentials you have. What really matters is how you affect the world around you.
Robert was a interesting and special person, using the aloha spirit just about every where he went. He had a way of expressing himself that could not be easily understood unless you opened your mind to his and spoke with love instead of judging him.
Robert was not only my brother, he was my friend to talk with about a tough math problem or a complicated computer related question. He gave me encouragement and may have been the only person that really understood me and listened to me without judging me.
I miss Robert's physical presence tremendously, but I know his spirit will always remain with us forever.
Robert passed peacefully on December 09, 2014 Tuesday at approximately 0800 hrs
