Rodolfo Gano Agmata's Obituary
Celebrating the life of Rodolfo Gano Agmata, also known as “Rudy” was born on July 11, 1939 in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. His parents were Alipio Agmata and Rosalina Gano. He was the second oldest of eight children. He attended San Antonio Elementary School and Sarrat High School. Rudy then graduated from Saint Williams College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. After graduation, he began a career as a teacher at Golgol Elementary School. On August 11,1966 he married the “love of his life”, Mariesa Tagalicud Ganal. In 1970, Rudy moved to Hawaii. He worked as a laborer before working as a carpenter for the State of Hawaii, Department of Agriculture. He retired in December 1994, after serving for almost 18 years. Rudy’s most important life events were his marriage and retirement, including his children's graduations and the births of his grandchildren. Rudy was hard working, respectful, funny, kind, faithful, supportive, and very loving. He was an avid boxing fan, especially of Manny Pacquiao; had a green thumb planting vegetables to eat; and was also a jack of all trades, fixing up things around the house or for others. He was involved in Sarrat and Namnama Associations of Hawaii. His favorite pastimes were watching TV, particularly game shows such as Jeopardy and Let’s Make a Deal; traveling to Las Vegas; and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Rudy passed away peacefully at his home in Pearl City on April 2, 2014 leaving behind his beautiful wife Mariesa, four children, Madelyn (Renato) Gascon, Romar (Elsie) Agmata, Cherilyn Fonoti, and Carolyn (Davis) Savea; 10 precious grandchildren; brothers, Martin Agmata, Rogelio (Adelaida) Agmata and Rodrigo (Glenda) Agmata; sisters, Marina (Antonio) Sigua and Consolacion Valdez (Teofilo Valdez, Jr.); brother-in-law, Randy Ancheta; sister-in-law, Esmenia Agmata; relatives and friends.
Visitation to his wake service will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, with prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation for his funeral service to begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 to also be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, with prayer service to begin at 11:00 a.m. and burial to follow 12:00 noon at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.
