Ronaldo "Nalu" Michael Ibarra's Obituary
Ronaldo Michael “Nalu” Ibarra, 83, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2020. Nalu was an alumnus of Saint Louis High School, class of 1955. Immediately after graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve. A hard worker and dedicated father, Nalu worked tirelessly for his family. For years he was employed as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Hawaiian Equipment. After his retirement from the company, Nalu continued to share his passion for Hawai’i and its culture working as a tour bus driver for 27 years. His employers included Coach, Trans Hawaiian and Roberts Hawaii (Oahu and Kona). In 1992, Nalu and his wife, Doris, relocated to Waikoloa, Hawaii. They were able to build their dream home and permanently resided there until 2011, when they decided to return to Oahu to be closer to their children. Nalu is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris (Kealoha); six children, Ronica-Ann Ibarra (Darren), Ronald Ibarra (Collette), Rhonda Higa (Ken), Reri Solatorio (Mark), RaeDeane Olszanowski (Steve), Ricky-Lee “Koa” Ibarra (Sara); twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
