Roque Camacho Tayama's Obituary
It is with great sadness to share the passing of Roque Camacho Tayama. Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary is honored to be serving the Tayama family.
Roque Camacho Tayama was born on February 2, 1970 on the island of Guam, where he was raised and educated from the union of his parents, Jose Leon Guerrero Tayama and Edith Marquita Camacho in the village of Mongmong, which means ‘heartbeat.’
Roque’s adventurous spirit took him on a vacation to Hawaii with several of his buddies in1989 where he immediately fell in love with the Big Island. At the impressionable age of nineteen, Roque cancelled his return flight, planted his roots where his heart belonged and never returned to Guam. Hawaii is the island he truly loved and cherished all his adult life until the day he was called to his eternal rest on January 5, 2022. Roque’s passing brings many to memorialize his life across the Pacific Ocean from Hawaii to Guam. As deep and as far as the love he shared for his islands and his Ohana, Roque will dwell in our minds and hearts forever.
Roque now rests in the arms of his loving mother, Edith, and joins his siblings, Pedro, Jerome and Josefina. All who had gone before him in this life.
The countless memories of Roque’s laughter, kindness and generous spirit will be cherished by those he leaves behind: His father, Jose, his older sister Theresa, his younger brother Perry and wife Reena, his youngest sister Barbara Tayama and Melvin C. Bledsoe. Roque is also survived by his nephew Cameron Roque Masnayon and Jaezelle Babasa Cardenas and Roque’s great niece Såna Lineakea Masnayon, numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
