Ruben Radoc Gutierrez's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Ruben Radoc Gutierrez, 73, born on November 22, 1940 in San Antonia, Zambales, Philippines, where he lived until November 1971. His parents were Frederico Gutierrez and Josefina Radoc and was the youngest of four children. He attended University of the East and earned an under graduate degree in Business. He married Lynne Viloria Gutierrez on November 14, 1971 and they both lived in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He was a retired cook with Ala Moana Hotel and Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, after 30 plus years of service. After retirement, he was involved in Ballroom Dancing. He was a member of Knights of Rizal, Magsingal Association of Hawaii, Dance Hawaii, Liberty Dance Group, and the Parish of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
He was a Public Relations Officer, Assistant Instructor and Sergeant-at-Arms. He was a devoted Catholic and served as an usher for St. Elizabeth Catholic Church's 10:00 a.m. Mass. Among his special friends were members of his dance group. Important events in his life were when he was voted "Mr. Barong" twice, attending the Maria Clara and Terno Balls and most especially when his his only son, Grant, was born on October 11, 1980.
He was a loving, patient, caring, good provider and a hardworking man, who enjoyed ballroom dancing, being an instructor and escort, and listening to all types of ballroom dance music and Engelbert Humperdinck songs.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne V. Gutierrez; daughters, Ruby Gutierrez and Rheanne (Kevin) Gutierrez; son, Grant Gutierrez; one grandson, Kaleb Gutierrez-Perreira; brother, Rogelio Gutierrez; and sister, Erlinda Castillo of the Philippines.
Visitation to his evening wake service will be held 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation to his funeral service will be 9:00-10:45a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, with Mass to begin at 10:45 a.m. and burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at Valley of The Temples Memorial Park.
