Rueben P.K. Kaahanui Sr's Obituary
Rueben Pipiilani Kinney Kaahanui Sr. (Koon) passed away on January 4, 2023 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center. He was 80 years old. Rueben was a Veteran having served in the Army, and Army National Guard. His assignments there was Field Maintenance and Sr. Painter among others.
Rueben was President of Kalakaua Rangers baseball team. Then he became President of the Kalakaua Monarchs for more than 20 years. He coached numerous teams in all sports. He helped and touched many young athletes from Kalihi and around the island.
Rueben is survived by his wife of 46 years, Deborah Kaahanui, his son Rueben P. K. Kaahanui Jr, his daughter Thyone K. Kaahanui. Also, survived by his sister, Claudia Roper (Haole Girl), his sister Nadine/John Barrientos, his brother Dean/Pua Kaahanui, nieces, nephews and many close friends and ohana.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Valley of the Temples main chapel on Saturday Sept, 30, 2023. Visitation is from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Internment of ashes to follow right after. Aloha attire please.
