My deepest condolences to Rodney’s family. He was a good friend. I’ve known Rodney for over 20 years, starting from when we worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He had such a love for life, and lived by the slogan “work hard, play hard”. He was into a wide variety of activities, and I tried to hang with him for a lot of it. One thing we used to do was go mountain biking together. One time, he had just recovered from a broken leg (fell down an elevator shaft on a ship at NNSY!) and really wanted to go for a bike ride. About halfway through the ride, his leg started hurting. I told him we needed to quit, but he wanted to finish the ride. Turns out he had re-broken his leg! This wasn’t a gentle trail either, but he finished it on a broken leg. He was so proud of his family, and after he moved to Hawaii, continued to send pictures and videos of his kids playing the piano, racing go-karts, etc. I will miss him very much.
