Scott Kawaiokalani Maukele's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Scott Kawaiokalani Maukele
December 12, 1967 – May 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Maukele of Waimānalo, Hawaiʻi, who passed away on May 24, 2026, at the age of 58.
Born on December 12, 1967, in Waimānalo, Scott was a proud son of Hawaiʻi who dedicated his life to his family, his community, and preserving the stories and history of his people. Self-employed throughout much of his life, Scott found purpose in being of service to others and took great pride in documenting significant events involving the Hawaiian sovereignty movement. He understood the importance of preserving history and ensuring that future generations would remember the voices and stories of those who came before them.
Scott was a simple man with a generous heart. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing laughter, creating memories, and showing up whenever someone needed him. He was deeply committed to defending his country, supporting his community, and standing up for what he believed in.
Above all else, Scott loved his family. He was a devoted son to his parents, Eliza “Aunty Maile” “Aunty Chubby” Maukele and Joseph “Papa Mitch” “Bonehead” Maukele II. He was a beloved brother to Michelle Kakae, Joseph (Joey) Maukele III, and David (Mauks) Maukele.
To his many nieces and nephews, Uncle Scott was someone who always gave his all. His love, guidance, humor, and presence left a lasting impression on each of their lives. He will forever be remembered as the uncle who showed up, cared deeply, and loved unconditionally.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Scott’s best friend, Jas Ras. On behalf of the entire family, thank you for always being there for Scotty and for the friendship, loyalty, and support you gave throughout his life.
From his nieces and nephews:
“We will always remember Uncle Scott as the uncle who gave his all to each and every one of us. Thank you for your love, your time, your stories, and your unwavering support. We love you, Uncle Scott, and will carry your memory in our hearts forever.”
Scott’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Though his time with us feels far too short, the impact he made on his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten.
Cremation services will be held on June 25, 2026. A Celebration of Life gathering with family and friends will be announced at a later date.
A hui hou, Scott. Until we meet again.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed
