He was born on March 2, 1944, to Alfred and Alice Chun. Sharland spent his life rooted in Hawaiʻi, where he was surrounded by family and the community he called home.
Sharland is survived by his beloved spouse, Janice Chun; his siblings, Gordon Chun, Rita Ikeda, and Stephanie Chang; his children, Sherri Iha and Christopher Chun; and his grandchildren, Rachel Iha, Rebecca Iha, Kaylie Chun, and Kaipo Chun.
