Shirley Lai Whiteley's Obituary
Shirley Lai Whiteley, age 91, passed away on January 10, 2023. Born on August 11, 1931 to Lee Lai and Grace Porter Lai in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She is survived by daughter, Frances Mei Ling Whiteley of Los Angeles, CA and son, Montford Schley Whiteley of Boulder, CO, her three sisters, Helene Lai, formerly of San Jose, CA, Erma Marshman of Honolulu, and Ann Kahanu of Kawaihae, Hawaii Island, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1949, finished two years @ the University of Hawaii, and graduated from Boston University in Massachusetts, majoring in Education. She taught many years in Boston and then in Boulder, where she spent most of her life.
Shirley’s ashes will be scattered at Lanikai Beach where she spent many weekends as a child.
