Shizuo "Nak" Nakamura's Obituary
Shizuo "Nak" Nakamura, 89, of Waipahu, Hawaii, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Shizuo was born on September 24, 1929 in Seattle, Washington to loving parents, Mitsunari and Yukie Nakamura; he was the oldest of three children.
Shizuo's early education began in Hiroshima, Japan; he attended high school in Los Angeles, and also attended Sophia University in Japan. He earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1959.
After graduation, Shizuo began a career as a Civil Service Budget Analyst for Hickam Air Force Base - PACAF. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1955 during the Korean War. Shizuo was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He attained the rank of SP3. Shizuo was one of the lucky survivors of the bombing in Hiroshima in 1945. Shizuo was also a member of the P.C. Bodhi Golf Club.
He was married to Kazuko Maeyama on April 23, 1954 in Tokyo, Japan. They were able to become loving parents to their children, Steven, Julie (who preceded him in death) and Timothy (who passed away one week after his Dad, Shizuo, on November 22.)
Shizuo's most important events in his life was becoming a proud grandfather to Chanyle and Chaz and a proud great-grandfather to Rooke, Saydi and Kara.
He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of life service for Shizuo will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Waipahu Hongwanji Buddhist Temple (located at 94-821 Kuhaulua Street Waipahu, HI 96797); visitation from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., with service to follow 5:00 p.m.
