Siu Chun Hu (Wu) Chan aka Lily's Obituary
Celebrating the life of SIU CHUN HU(WU) CHAN
Born on 13 October 1926 in Zhongshan, Guangdong, China
Her parents were Kin Nam Wu and Pui Ying Chan
Our mother had an intermittent education during World War II; nevertheless it did not stop her determination and vision to have a better life. In 1957, she pioneered into the prospering Hong Kong, where she met our father.
Two years later, she brought her mother and brother to the new life. She married our father in 1959 and began her life long journey as a loving wife and caring mother. After the 1969 Hong Kong political riot, our parents made a daring decision and uprooted the family and moved to Honolulu in 1972. She immediately started a full time job, besides being a dedicated wife and mother, to help out the family.
She retired in 1989 to take care of her grandchildren. She told us repeatedly that her most significant achievement in life is having four compassionate sons and a sometimes strong willed husband. Her favorite motto is “Family unity brings prosperity (家和萬事興)” and she reminded us in every opportunity she had. Live life to the fullest, no regrets…
Our loving mother is survived by husband Lurk; four sons and daughters-in-law: Joe (Maria), John (Fanny), David (Delmina), and George (Lisa); nine grandchildren and their spouses: Gordon (Angela), Kingston (Kristen), Ethan, Bryson, Mnason, Chantel (Brad), Erica (Matthew), Joellen, and Kelsey; one great grandson Harvey; brother Edmund and his wife Macy; nephew Kenneth and Kevin.
