Segi, Sonny Palagi's Obituary
Sonny Segi Sr. passed away peacefully at home at the age of 83 on May 27, 2025.
He was born on January 28,1942 in the village of Nu'uuli, Tutuila, American Samoa, to Papalagi and Sapai Segi. At the age of 19, he moved to Hawaii and began his working journey to provide for his parents and 8 siblings in Samoa, eventually sending them all to California for a better life and opportunities. During that time, he also met Rosaline, the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four sons and have been married for 61 years. Before retiring, he dedicated 41 years of service as a Civil Servant Heavy Machine operator at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Surviving are his loving wife Rosaline, beloved 4 sons Sonny Jr, Scott (Cookie), Steve, and Shannon (Jay), 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He found great joy in golfing and sharing the company of his close friends on weekends. A loving husband, amazing father and devoted grandfather. He and his wife, Rosaline, often traveled to Las Vegas together, making countless memories. At home, he loved to cook, tend to his yard, and work on his beloved 1965 red Mustang.
We gather to celebrate the beautiful life of a man who brought kindness, support, and generosity to everyone he met. His warmth and steadfast friendship extended far beyond his family, touching the lives of many. His generous heart and loyalty made him a pillar in the lives of those around him.
The family requested that flowers and monetary gifts be omitted.
Please join us as we honor his life on June 26, 2025, at the Valley of the Temples Makai Chapel. Public visitation begins at 5:00 p m , followed by a Celebration Of Life service at 6:00 p m Food and refreshments will be served afterward.
