Steven Eugene Vidinha's Obituary
Steven Eugene "Steve" Vidinha of Kane'ohe passed away on June 23, 2017 after a 4-year battle with ALS. He was 80 years old.
Steve retired as the Director of the Criminal Justice Data Center under the State Attorney General's office. He also served as the Deputy Director of the State Law Enforcement Planning agency and was a Sergeant in the training division of HPD.
He was born and raised on Kaua'i, graduated for Waimea High, and attended Chaminade College of Honolulu. He was one of the surviving members of Chaminade's first graduating class in 1959. He also held a Master's Degree in Criminology from UC Berkeley.
Steve is survived by his wife Dorothy, of Kane'ohe, daughters Barbara "Babz" (Vaikeola) Richards of Kailua and Beverly (Drake) Ikalani, of Waipahu, along with granddaughters Phoebe "Lalea" and Daphne Miller. He is also survived by sister Eleanor Smart of Vancouver, Washington and brother Robert of Bordentown, New Jersey.
He was predeceased by parents Jack and Mary Vidinha of Koloa, Kaua'i, brothers Eddie Lawrence and Ronald, and sister Margaret Remoaldo.
Steven enjoyed fishing, golfing and long morning walks. Through the years, the time he cherished most was spent doting on Dorothy, his daughters and granddaughters.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Kane'ohe, and burial at 2:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
