Sunday Vicente Sabala 's Obituary
Celebrating the Life of Sunday Vicente Sabala, 77, who passed away in Ewa Beach, Hawaii on February 16, 2014. He was born on December 5, 1936 in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii to Paulino Sabala and Andrea Vicente. Sunday was the youngest of eight children. He attended Waimea High School and Kauai Community College. Upon graduation he began his career in construction and carpentry. He retired in 1994 after working for 30 years. He married Paciencia Agustin Domingo on July 1, 1967 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They lived in Waipahu and Ewa Beach.
He served in the Hawaii Army National Guard and United States Army from 1953 to 1958. Sunday was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Carpenters Union Local 745 and the Paddig Club. Sunday’s most important events in his life were getting married, buying his first home, owning their own homes, his grandchildren, working on the State Capitol building and the Federal Building. He was a hardworking, loyal, meticulous, proud and determined man whose favorite past times included orchids, fishing, photography (camera), cooking and building things. He enjoyed Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby songs.
He is survived by his wife, Paciencia “Pacing” A. Sabala; sons, Arnold Paul (Regina) Sabala and Jason (Lorena) Sabala; daughters, Arlene Mae Sabala, Christine (Blake) Tsubaki and Stephanie Sabala; 10 grandchildren; and sisters, Juanita Umipeg and Elenora Manaday.
Visitation for funeral service will be 8:30-9:45 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; Mass to begin ay 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow 12:00 noon at Valley of The Temples Memorial Park.
