Celebrating the Life of Taiko K. Hill
January 8th, 1949 – July 31st, 2025
We celebrate the beautiful life of Taiko K. Hill, born in Ibaraki, Japan on January 8th, 1949. Taiko’s warm spirit showed in every act of kindness, every encouraging word, and every helping hand she offered. Her friends and family knew her as kind, supportive, hardworking, and generous—qualities she carried with her each day.
Taiko loved the outdoors and could often be found planning a simple camping trip or a quiet walk under open skies. Time outside was her way of sharing joy; many family memories were created because of her enthusiasm for outdoor activities.
Family meant everything to Taiko. She shared steady guidance and cheerful encouragement with her daughters, Sarie (Phil) Harris, Mari Hill, and Amy (Nick) Olds. To her two grandchildren, she was the caring grandmother who was always ready with a smile and an invitation for adventure. She is also survived by her sister, **Nagako Ishida.
Throughout her life, Taiko quietly made a difference. Whether it was lending a hand to a neighbor or cheering on a family member’s new idea, she built a legacy of generosity and steady encouragement. Those who knew her recall how she celebrated other people’s successes as eagerly as her own.
Taiko passed away in Kaneohe, Hawaii on July 31st, 2025, leaving the gift of countless happy memories. As we gather to remember her, we choose to focus on the energy she shared, the lessons she modeled through everyday kindness, and the love she spread so freely.
In honor of Taiko, take a moment to step outside, breathe in fresh air, and share a kind word. That simple act captures the heart of a life well-lived.
