Thomas "Sunny" Chew Hoon Lee's Obituary
Thomas "Sunny" Chew Hoon Lee, 95, of Kaneohe, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 8, 1922 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Lee Sing and Yuk Hong Lee; he was the sixth out of nine children.
He attended McKinley High School and Honolulu Business College. After graduation, he began a career at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and retired as a naval surplus salesperson for the Department of Navy. He was at work on December 7, 1941, immediately after the bombing. He was also an Army veteran.
Sunny married Carolyn Leinaala Elderts on July 18, 1964 at the First Congregational Church.
Sunny lived in Palolo, Kaimuki and Kaneohe. He was also a member of the Waikane Congregational Church and his favorite song was "Amazing Grace."
Sunny loved fishing, playing cards, cribbage and mahjong.
Sunny was survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Leinaala Lee; sons, Shane J. L. (Terry Ann) Lee, Richey J. C. (Michele) Lee; daughter, Jadyanne K. J. Lee; grandchildren, Shanette (Drew) Landes, Terren Lee, Randon Serikawa, Reanna Serikawa, Ricky-Thomas Serikawa; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Landes; and brother, Christopher (Judy) Lee.
Celebration of life services for Sunny will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park Chapel; visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., service to begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow 2:00 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park's Korean Garden.
Sunny lived a long, full life and will be greatly missed by his loving family.
