Violet Kuulei Piiohia's Obituary
Violet passed away on Friday July 20, 2018 at the age of 83. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunty.
Violet was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 19, 1934, the youngest of 10 children of Joseph Kaunu Thomas and Helen Mahuna Kaawa.
Violet was married to Roy Keakaokalani Piiohia on September 25, 1954. They had five sons Leroy, Wendell Lee, Roy Jr. (deceased), Ryan, and Kyle. She graduated from Farrington High School. She was a volunteer at Palama Settlement, preparing meals for the various sports programs. She retired after 25 years from the Hawaii Magazine Distributors as a Warehouse Supervisor. She loved caring for her orchids, and the many fruits and vegetables around the yard. She studied the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on April 8, 1990. Violet enjoyed providing transportation for the friends as they shared the good news of God’s Kingdom with others.
She is survived by Leroy and Dionicia (Deesha), Wendell Lee, Ryan, and Kyle (Nancy) Piiohia. Grand children Golden (Lisa) Piiohia, Pualani (Travis) Piiohia Murakami, Ekolu (Taylor) Piiohia, Elia (Linda) Piiohia-Tanga, Gary (Kali Boy), Keale and Nalani Peahi-Piiohia, and Moani Piiohia-Nahaku. Great-Grandchildren: Hau`oli Piiohia, Kiley, Quincy (Keaka) and Mika Murakami, Kymani, Kane and Kaizen Peahi-Piiohia, Roman, Messiah and NaleiKaumaka Iuta. And many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a good listener, a physically strong and independent woman, who was very generous, hospitable and kind to all. She loved her God, Jehovah.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Palama Settement, 810 N. Vineyard Boulevard, in the Dining Hall. Visitation starts at 5:30 p.m. Services will begin at 6:30 p.m.
