He graduated from Manual Arts High School and went on to attend the University of Southern California. While attending USC he was drafted into the US Army in 1955. He served for two years in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1957. He completed his studies at USC, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Wade briefly worked for the State of California before taking a position with US Army Corps of Engineers. He had assignments in Santa Maria, Japan, and Hawaii. While in Hawaii he grew to love the local lifestyle and decided that Honolulu is where he would call home. While in Hawaii he enjoyed many watersports like snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing.
In 1972, Wade married his wife of 51 years, Sandra Low. Together they raised two children, a son, Mark, and a daughter Kimberlee (Kwon). After a career with the Army Corps of Engineers that spanned over 40 years, he retired. Throughout his life he was an avid tennis player, a shrewd investor, and a die-hard University of Hawaii sports fan. What he loved most of all was spending time with his five grandchildren, Parker Low, Aila Low, Alyssa Low, Lucas Kwon, and Ryan Kwon.
Wade was a devoted, selfless, and generous son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed. Wade will be laid to rest in a committal ceremony on November 15, 2023 at 11:00AM at the Hawaii State Veteran’s Cemetery in Kaneohe.
