I briefly met Walter when he retired and General Printing was making the
transition to new ownership. In the years following, I've heard many
stories about his character - his loyalty and devotion to his employees
and to his customers. My coworkers, who had the privilege to work
under him couldn't praise him enough. I'm sure he will be missed by
many. I wish I had known him.

We were so saddened to hear of Walter's passing. He was a larger-than-
life figure that WAS the printing industry to us back when we started in
the 1970s. We will always remember his hands-on approach in the press
room, the fun lunches and after-work bull sessions. And we were always
delighted when we got some Soares-caught salmon as a gift. Doing the
best job possible was his priority. It is a value and work ethic that we
carry to this day. He will be greatly missed.
