Walter "Russian" Jerome Prohorenko's Obituary
Walter Jerome Prohorenko, 82, of Kaneohe, Hawaii was born on March 23, 1934 to William Prohorenko and Eliza Peroff in Wailuku, Maui, Territory of Hawaii; he was the youngest of 10 children.
He was a retired sole proprietor and automobile painter and proud owner of M & W Auto Body and Paint.
He attended St. Anthony School on Maui. After graduation he began a lifetime career as an automobile painter.
Originally from Maui, he moved and made a life on the island of O’ahu and lived in Kaneohe. He was married to Mary Ann Ululani Umiamaka on March 1, 1968 by the Justice of the peace in the court with the State of Hawaii in Honolulu.
He was a lifetime member of USBC (United States Bowling Congress). His past time favorites were bowling and cars, especially Corvettes, as he was an owner of one. He enjoyed listening to Hawaiian, Contemporary and Church songs.
He is survived by wife, Mary Ann Prohorenko; children, Genevieve Rivera, George Gonsalves, Davy Gonsalves, Debbie Ann (Jerome) Shores, Maxine (Alika Beyer), and Carolmae (James) Anderson; sisters, Helen and Annie; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Prohorenko will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary; visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., service to begin at 10:30 a.m., and burial to follow 1:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
